Recently I had the privilege to observe a family of weavers from Cotacachi Ecuador. They meticulously weave these beautiful wool sweaters into works of art.

The time and effort to create these sweaters is simply amazing. It’s funny when you think about it — well kinda, years ago our grandmothers used to weave very much like this. They would take their time and make it look just right. That’s exactly what the weavers I met do. Take a look at a few that were made just recently below.

I watched them weave Llama wool sweaters by hand and use a wooden loom at times for other stuff. The whole process is really cool to see. The wooden looms are just like our forefathers used in the 1700-1800′s.

The family that I spent the day with has quite a sense of humor about what they do. I asked if they would model some stuff for me while I took some photo’s.. The 18 year old daughter was so excited and so was the rest of the family.

How’s that for a WILD WOOL HAT !!! TOO COOL…

The strangest thing happened , I spent all day with the family and it felt like 20 minutes.. I designed a wool sweater and a scarf with the gloves in them and gave them the design I wanted. Elizabeth and Fanny said they would work on the sweaters and have them in 2 weeks. I will post them on my next blog.
Have a great day and hope to see you soon…
