Today I visited the Otavalo craft market(Plaza De Ponchos). It’s is one of the biggest in South America. They have everything from jewelry ,oil paintings ,water colors, Llama tapestry’s, Llama rugs, ceramics, wood carvings it is unbelievable. If you can’t find it here you can’t find it anywhere. We met a very sweet couple that has a small shop in the center of the square. The shop is called ARTESANIAS AMAYA. Cecilia and her husband explained what the stories on the tapestry’s meant and they speak a little English also.

If you every get to Ecuador stop in and visit their shop and I’m sure they would be more than happy to help in your search for whatever you are looking for. In my case they lined all these handmade tapestry’s on tables and explained in details what each rub meant. 3 hours later I purchased 2 to take home with me and I can’t wait to go back. They had so many tapestry’s that were just so beautiful. These tapestry’s also are used to bring harmony, joy and happiness into the household. If you are lacking just those qualities in your household take a look at the pictures I have attached.

Of course what visit to Otavalo would be complete without getting homemade pie and pastry’s. Yes I filled up while I was in town. I love blackberry pie or (MORA) as they call it.
