Llama Scarves and Shawls in Ecuador

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you enjoyed the site.

Today I’m off for a small village just outside of Peguche Ecuador.  But before I started my journey I made sure to stop in and have my favorite breakfast and juice at the bus stop in Cotacachi.

Comedor Zolita Restaurant

WOW !  What a strange place for a favorite breakfast   huh ….

Breakfast in Cotacachi Ecuador-Bus station

The breakfast consists of a 4 oz piece of beef , 2 fried eggs, 4-5 oz of white rice , salad, 4 potato cakes and all for $1.25. It’s a mountain of food…!!

Man I feel great every time I eat there.  I then hop over about 100 ft away at my favorite fresh juice place, also at the bus station.

Juice Breakfast in Cotacachi EcuadorFresh squeezed juice or vegetables of any kind for $1.25–since I’m in the fruit and vegetable market they have any combination you can think of. My favorite is pineapple, mango, strawberry.   Well at least so far.!!!  Its a great way to start your day.

Today I’m off to visit a very small village just outside of Peguche Ecuador. In fact it has no name it’s just a few stray homes scattered in the hills. cow traffic jam

On the way their I passed the local lawnmower company hard at work.  The rest of the crew was still in the street on the way to work.

Every time I arrive at one of these places it amazes me how much work really goes into the creation of these artworks and the detail work.  After weaving one of her Llama shawls this nice old lady spends 1/2 hour just brushing the shawl to make it softer.

The detail work on the Llama scarves and Llama shawls are unbelievable.

Peguche Artworks

They live in such modest surrounding but they have such big smiles on their faces all the time. You would not even know that they are so very poor if you looked at their faces. Always so happy to share story’s with strangers. I felt like one of the family when I left.Local Weaver

The family was very happy to show me the whole process from start to finish and even introduced me to the neighbor lady. She was a real treat also !  She loved having her photograph taken over and over again with me. She kept waving to me as I left.

Sweet local lady

You just never know what you will see on the side of the road in these small mountain villages. I saw this beauty out of the corner of my eye and scrambled for the camera.   When you least expect it sometimes you get a great surprise to end your day..   Until next time !!!!

Cute little Bugger !
