These past few weeks I have been thinking more often about my time in Ecuador. God I miss it ! Today my thoughts of eating fresh corn on the cob took me back to Ecuador. I was standing in front of a corn field in Cotacachi Ecuador and the corn was as high as an Elephants eye..

I was heading towards a weavers village in the mountains and I stopped by an organic garden and snapped this photo of some weird but cool spice or flower..

The weavers put their heart and soul into everything they do with a smile. I was surprised with the whole process of how they make the Llama Wool Scarves. I am amazed at how much time and brushing goes into the process. I watched a weaver make 1 scarf and then spend 20 minutes brushing the scarf to make it softer. The whole process took 1 and 1/2 hours..Can you believe it.?

It reminded me of my grandmother when she would make wool sweaters in Pennsylvania for the winter. In Ecuador the whole village chips in and they make Llama wool sweaters,Alpaca scarves,Llama wool hats and gorgeous wool shawls or wraps..

I always remember when it was time to leave I just hated to go. They whole village would always welcome me with open arms. On the way back into town I came across this great halloween mask- Ecuadorian style…cool HUH !

This past week I have been having many thoughts about a very cool restaurant I ate at 2 months ago. It’s called Puerto Lago Restaurant and it’s in Ecuador right between Cotacachi and Otavalo. I was there with some dear friends for a birthday bash. The birthday boy Paul had a very good time.

Minutes from now Paul and I thought we saw a UFO over the lake !
We had been drinking but it sure looked real to us. NOPE it was just my flash on the camera and I was trying to take a picture through the window. Stupid me , but we had alot of fun showing people the photo.

The restaurant looks right out over the lake and in fact you can almost touch the water if you could lift the window up. You can rent paddle boats at the lake and take boat rides, they even have Llamas to pet and a couple small tents full of Llama wool sweaters and Llama wool shawls for purchase.

The interior of the restaurant is very unique. The woodwork is wonderful and they had a couple cool chairs that especially stood out to me.

The even have a few rental cottages right on the property that are so cute. Almost like something out of a Hansel and Grettle story or something. Would probably be a very relaxing weekend to spend in Ecuador. Eat till you drop everyday then shop till you drop and then chase the Llamas and then take a swim. Well OK maybe just a boat ride. The water looks awful cold.

After my 1st visit we planned on going back one more time but I just ran out of time before I left for the states. Well I’m coming back to Ecuador shortly and I plan on stopping in for Sunday brunch and I can’t wait.

I plan on sitting right in front of the window and watching the UFO’s fly over the lake and then I will chase a few Llamas and then probably buy every Llama wool Sweater and Llama wol shawl I can get my hands on. The Shawls are to die for ! At least that’s what all the girls I have been showing them to have said to me.

The property has many beautiful flowerbeds in front of the restaurant which make for great photographs. If your a good photographer. I’m not !
